Graham very hawkish on ISIS and Assad, more troops, more Trump action

In response to the attack, the United States fired cruise missiles at a Syrian air base on April 7, drawing condemnations by Russian Federation and Iran, which have given Assad crucial diplomatic and military support throughout Syria's six-year-long civil war.

McCain was responding to Tillerson's suggestions that last week's missile strike on Syria was the limit to military action against the Assad regime at the present.

"I think the president has authorization to use force", he said.

And a joint operations center in Damascus that includes Iran, Russia and Lebanon-based Hezbollah militants threatened reprisals.

Trump acts decisively in Syria: Now what?

The Prime Minister of Russian Federation condemned the United States for attacking the legitimate government of Syria.

Pence: US won't rest until N. Korea gives up nuclear weapons
China has imposed a painful economic boycott on South Korean exports and is making life hard for South Korean companies in China. Barack Obama's policy of "strategic patience" on North Korea was neither about patience, nor about strategy.

Tillerson said he has "not seen any hard evidence" that Russians were involved in planning or carrying out the attack.

Putin said on Tuesday Russia would be urgently asking the global chemical weapons watchdog - the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons - to investigate the incident.

A senior US official said Monday that the United States has determined Russian Federation knew in advance about the Syrian chemical attack that took place last week and that someone bombed the hospital where victims were being treated to cover up the attack, according to The Associated Press. The senator said it's imperative now to have a clear, carefully devised strategy for Syrian action. "What we saw was a reaction to the use of chemical weapons, something I think many of us supported", he said.

If Syria carries out any further chemical attacks, "that is going to be clearly very damaging to US-Russian relations", Tillerson warned.

"I do not believe that the Russians want to have worsening relationships with the USA, but it's going to take a lot of discussion and a lot of dialogue to better understand what is the relationship that Russia wishes to have with the U.S.".

"The failure related to the recent strike and the recent bad chemical weapons attack in large measure is a failure on Russia's part to achieve its commitment to the global community", he added.

North Korean missile test ends in failure
Defense Secretary Mattis said Trump and his military team "are aware of North Korea's most recent unsuccessful missile launch". In the past, North Korea showed off mock-up missiles and then later succeeded in test-firing real ones on several occasions.

In an earlier message, he said: "Congratulations to our great military men and women for representing the United States, and the world, so well in the Syria attack".

"You need more American troops to accelerate (ISIS') demise", Graham told NBC's "Meet the Press".

"There is not any sort of option where a political solution is going to happen with Assad at the head of the regime", Haley said on CNN's "State of the Union". Still, Haley said the US didn't see a peaceful future for Syria with Assad in power.

But Haley suggested there has been a shift in USA thinking. "If we would want to appeal rationally to Russia", McMaster said.

The South Carolina Republican and military hawk is calling for as many as 6,000 more US troops to help defeat the Islamic State terror group in the Middle East.

Graham may have been blunt, but his sentiment is shared by several of his colleagues and many Americans who are frustrated by the Assad regime's merciless chemical attacks.

"Other than that, there is no change to our military posture", he said. "Why are we supporting this murderous regime that is committing mass murder of its own population and using the most heinous weapons available?'"
