Buhari receives released Chibok girls behind closed doors

Meanwhile, the 82 abducted school girls released by Boko Haram at about 7.04pm on Sunday, May 7, arrived the Presidential Villa in Abuja to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) campaign group has described the recent release of 82 Chibok girls from the captivity of Boko Haram as heart warming.

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari said last month that the government was in talks to secure the release of the remaining captives.

The girls, who were among more than 200 abducted by the Islamist militants on April 14, 2014, were released yesterday under a negotiated deal that saw a number of Boko Haram suspects freed from custody.

DoD Contemplating Additional Troops in Afghanistan
A US soldier is seen near the site of a USA bombing in the Achin district of Jalalabad, east of Kabul, Afghanistan. The military action has succeeded in reducing Hasib's fighters to roughly 700.

Featuring on Channels Television programme, Sunrise Daily, Adesina made the claim while reacting to a question on security concerns raised over the release of the Boko Haram suspects.

For more than two years after the kidnapping there was no sign of the missing girls but the discovery of one of them with a baby in May last year fuelled hope. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to make the announcement.

There was no comment yet from the Nigerian presidency or Boko Haram, an extremist group linked to the Islamic State.

President Buhari has not hidden his willingness to "bend over backwards" to secure the release of the girls.

Some 113 young women are still missing, however, she said.

Though Boko Haram has abducted thousands of people during its eight-year insurgency that has spilled across Nigeria's borders, the Chibok mass kidnapping in 2014 horrified the world and brought the extremist group global attention.

In October 2016, 21 of the Chibok schoolgirls were freed by fter negotiations between the terror group and the Nigerian government.

The girls were brought back to the town in ICRC vehicles late on Saturday afternoon.

At the time, Nigeria's government said another group of 83 girls would be released "very soon".

Daily Trust recalled that on the day of the abduction on April 14, 2014, at least 276 were taken away but 57 of them escaped nearly immediately while being ferried into the Sambisa forest. Family members said they were awaiting names and other information before celebrating.

It looked like RCB were heading for another collapse as skipper Virat Kohli (5) and AB de Villiers (10) both failed to get going. The duo batted through a rain-forced break of over 30 minutes with Mandeep reaching to his fifty shortly after resumption.

It is feared others were strapped with explosives and sent on missions as suicide bombers. "I have to be anxious with the intention to see if one of my daughters is among the released ones".
