'Today I lost a piece of my "manhood,"' Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Jameson Taillon wrote in a candid Tweet on Monday.

'We are appreciative of Dr. Lyne and the staff at Allegheny General Hospital for their invaluable expertise and efforts in caring for Jameson. Following a consultation with the team's medical staff upon discovering an abnormality, Taillon followed up with John Lyne, a Pittsburgh-based urologist, who performed the surgical procedure, per the team's official statement.

The revealing post came only hours after Taillon had surgery for suspected testicular cancer.

The pitcher released a statement through Twitter about the situation.
