President Trump Unleashes on Fired FBI Director James Comey and 'Fake Media'

"James Comey better hope there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!" In testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee, acting FBI Director Andrew McCabe, testifying in place of Comey, promised to tell the panel of any White House meddling into the agency's probe.

"As a very active President with lots of things happening, it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with flawless accuracy!".

The White House, however, declined repeatedly on Friday to discuss the matter - including whether there are recording devices in the Oval Office.

Tweeting this morning, Trump defended his press staff, stating he's so "active", "it is not possible for my surrogates to stand at podium with flawless accuracy!.", with the implication that he may cancel White House press briefings. Did Trump or anyone else ask for a justification to fire Comey or for you to write the memo? The Watergate scandal accelerated drastically when it was revealed Nixon taped conversations in the White House.

All along, Trump's spokesmen insisted that his decision was not shaped in any way by his growing fury with the Russian Federation controversy, including the FBI investigation overseen by Comey into Russia's interference with the 2016 presidential election and whether there had been any coordination with Trump associates.

With the FBI conducting an ongoing investigation into possible collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, Democrats were incredulous at Comey's firing, and pounced on Rosenstein for apparently spearheading the effort.

The Times said it was not clear whether the dinner was the same one that Trump described in the NBC interview in which the president acknowledged asking Comey whether he was the subject of a counter-intelligence probe.

"Did you ask him to drop the investigation?"

Asked whether the accounts were true, White House spokesman Sean Spicer told reporters, "No". "I don't know if there was evidence of collusion or not, nor should I have in this particular context". Personally. I'm not talking about campaigns.

"I'm not under investigation", Trump added.

Trump's 7 most hypocritical tweets about sharing classified information
Classified intelligence is classified for a reason and must be respected and protected as such at all levels of government. House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) in a statement called for a "full explanation of the facts" from the Trump administration.

But early Friday afternoon, MSNBC had Clapper on to explain, once and for all, why Trump's tweet is dishonest.

Comey was ostensibly fired over his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation. Comey refused to do so, according to the report, instead pledging "honesty".

Then on Thursday, Trump told NBC anchor Lester Holt that the decision to fire Comey was his alone and that he would have made it "regardless" of what Rosenstein recommended.

USA presidents are normally at pains to avoid any suggestion of interference or even commenting on ongoing investigations.

The FBI typically does not confirm their existence.
