Governor Walker declares State of Emergency following severe weather

In Wisconsin, a tornado tore through a mobile home park, killing at least one person and injuring several others.

One person is confirmed dead in Barron County along with 25 injured after a tornado hit. Gusts of 85mph (135kph) were recorded at the weather service's office in Valley, west of Omaha. Emergency officials are reporting seven homes destroyed, according to the state's emergency management agency. The thunderstorm continued to move east-northeast through Rusk County with many reports of damage.

Sheriff Fitzgerald said emergency crews are doing a second search of the buildings right now.

A housing subdivision in the southern part of Elk City, Oklahoma was damaged by a tornado.

Officials are still working Tuesday night, going home to home searching for anyone who might be missing or trapped.

Mark Tyson said the couple's truck was crushed and their Lincoln was tossed upside down, but somehow their motor home parked next to their trailer suffered minimal damage.

Danny Ringer, a chaplain with the Elk City Fire Department, said 53-year-old Bo Mikles was killed when he attempted to flee the storm in his vehicle, which was picked up and thrown several hundred feet.

Another person died in Elk City, Oklahoma, from a devastating tornado that ripped through the town.

The Sheriff said the Wisconsin DNR was out assessing the extent of the damage.

Wisconsin Emergency Management Spokesperson Tod Pritchard says their priority is helping tornado victims in Barron County, but they are also keeping a close eye on the severe weather. "Included in the path of the tornado were the Lake Amacoy and Conrath areas, which sustained the most severe damage", Rusk County Sheriff Jeffrey S. Wallace said.

The storm hit the Cameron trailer park at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A powerful storm and tornado that struck Barron County Tuesday evening has claimed at least one life as well as leveling about 40 mobile homes at a mobile home park near Chetek. Winds hit 66 miles an hour in Marshfield in the afternoon, as utility poles snapped and one business was damaged.
