One dead, three injured in Colorado in oil tank fire

One person was killed, three injured in the explosion and subsequent fire on the oil tank company Anadarko Petroleum in the US state of Colorado.

May 26 A blaze engulfed a Colorado oil tank battery on Thursday, killing one worker and injuring three, authorities said.

The fire occurred at an Anadarko Petroleum Corp. battery, the term given to silo-like oil storage containers, about 40 miles north of Denver.

In late April, Anadarko Petroleum announced to stop operation more than 3 thousand oil and gas wells in the city of Firestone, Colorado for inspection after the house explosion, which killed two people.

Anadarko says it will permanently shut down the Firestone well and two others in the neighborhood.

The governor is a former geologist and says he agrees with local investigators who say that the two deadly incidents aren't related. Hickenlooper said that the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating Thursday's incident in Mead.

Democratic state Rep. Mike Foote said the industry and government "have an obligation to treat these incidents not as isolated or freak accidents".

All were working on a battery at the site owned by Anadarko Petroleum Corporation.

A second lawsuit, filed this month by Firestone couple Jeffrey and Karla Baum, alleges that Anadarko, Noble Energy and the subdivision's developers were negligent in allowing the flowline to leak gas into the neighborhood.

At the start of the operations in Marawi City, military Spokesman Brig. "We need to cooperate", he told the Philippine daily. The military has identified two Malaysians, two Indonesians, two Saudis, a Yemeni and a Chechen, ABS-CBN News reported.

The Sierra Club called for Anadarko to shutter all of its operations while state and federal authorities conduct a comprehensive review.

The incident comes as Anadarko's safety record faces increased scrutiny following a Colorado home explosion in April that killed two people and was linked to a dormant well owned by the company. The board investigates transportation incidents, and pipelines are considered a mode of transportation because the lines transport oil, gas and other materials.
