Bill Cosby's sexual assault trial begins in Pennsylvania

Cosby, charged with aggravated indecent assault, faces trial regarding charges stemming from an alleged sexual assault in 2004.

Constand filed a police complaint in 2005 over the night a year earlier, when, she says, Cosby drugged her and put his hand down her trousers.

(Norristown) -A woman who says Bill Cosby drugged and violated her at a Los Angeles hotel bungalow two decades ago is testifying in his sexual assault trial.

Constand's complaint was referred to Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, where the district attorney found the case to be too weak to prosecute.

Judge Steven T. O'Neill, however, limited the prosecution to calling just one of the women whose claim most closely mirrored the allegations leveled by Constand.

"I was trying to say something", she said.

"He put lotion in my hand and made me touch his penis", Johnson added, breaking down into sobs.

"My dress was pulled up from the bottom, and it was pulled down from the top, and my breasts were out", she said, crying. She says she's praying for everyone involved.

He says she testified then that she met Cosby at the bungalow in 1990.

Lawyers are set to give opening statements to the jury outlining their case.

During cross-examination, defense lawyer Brian McMonagle pointed out numerous inconsistencies between Johnson's testimony and prior statements she has made.

Cosby grinned and tapped his cane at the defense table as McMonagle confronted her with the discrepancies.

In the deposition, Cosby said he had engaged in consensual sexual activity with Constand. She came forward in 2015 at a news conference with celebrity lawyer Gloria Allred, who also attended the trial Monday.

"I felt embarrassed (at the time) because I had a secret about the biggest celebrity in the world at the time and it was just me, just my word against his, and I was very afraid", Johnson said Monday, explaining the delay.

Prior to the beginning of testimony, both sides verbally painted a picture for jurors as to their versions of the incident that led to the filing of criminal charges.

Knight Pulliam says she doesn't condone any form of sexual assault and that she's sensitive to the gravity of the charges against Cosby, given her Kamp Kizzy Foundation's mission to promote self-esteem, empowerment and motivation in girls.

Cosby has not spoken at length about the Constand case, though last month, he told Sirius XM radio host Michael Smerconish that he did not expect to testify during the trial.

Constand, who is gay, is also expected to testify. Pullman played his daughter Rudy on The Cosby Show. "Total control of her body lost", Assistant Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Kristen Feden argued. "In reality, we only have a glimpse of who they really are". Cosby's image as a father and family man helped fuel his extraordinary, 50-year career in entertainment. He created TV characters, most notably Dr. Cliff Huxtable, with crossover appeal among blacks and whites alike. His TV shows, films and comedy tours earned him an estimated $400 million.

In what was then a sealed deposition, Cosby acknowledged he had obtained Quaaludes, a sedative, to give them to young women with whom he wanted to have sex. Dozens of women soon came forward to say he had drugged and assaulted them.
