Cosby Lawyer Challenges Accuser's Memory

Bill Cosby's trial started on Monday, and it began about as dramatically as it could have. Once, when a lawyer mentioned his accuser kept calling him after an alleged sexual assault, Cosby smiled slightly and shook his head in agreement.

Cosby is accused of drugging and sexually assaulting Constand at his home outside Philadelphia in 2004. "I wasn't able to fight in any way".

Cosby, 79, is charged with drugging and violating Constand at his suburban Philadelphia home in 2004.

Cosby, his good-guy reputation already in ruins, could get 10 years in prison if convicted of aggravated indecent assault.

Cosby's defense team has tried to poke holes in the accuser's story.

"The man that I've known as a child was amusing and witty and smart and philanthropic and full of advice", she told ABC News.

James also referenced Emmett Till's mother and how she made a decision to have an open casket to show the world the hate crime that killed her son.

"He wouldn't tell me what it was", she testified.

"Like Andrea, at a certain point in their friendship, he invited her over for lunch to discuss her career plans". The defense had to go after her and they had to go after her hard here. "Right now it's the jury's job and the jury's decision to determine guilt or innocence".

After excusing herself to go to the restroom, Kelly said her vision went fuzzy and she lost consciousness.

"And I felt naked". Cosby later thanked Pulliam for her support on Twitter, writing, "Thank you to Cliff and Claire's 4 year old daughter (Rudy) and the Brilliant Spelman Alumnus".

The case was eventually forwarded to investigators there, but Cosby wasn't charged until a new prosecutor reopened the case in 2015.

Prosecutors had wanted to call as many as 13 of Cosby's more than 60 accusers as witnesses, but Montgomery County Judge Steven O'Neill ruled that only Constand and the other woman could take the stand. So, in that deposition, Cosby says that he, again, acknowledges having a long series of relationships with young women, actresses, waitresses, flight attendants, various women. He was basically attempting to show the jury that her memory was maybe flawed and perhaps so flawed that maybe she made up this whole encounter completely. According to the complaint, Cosby positioned himself behind her on the sofa, penetrated her vagina with his fingers and put her hand on his penis. They said that Cosby and Andrea Constand had a romantic relationship that spans at least several evenings, that she had gone to the casino in CT with him on one trip, had been with him on several nights for various social occasions, and, again, that it was a romantic, consensual situation. "I don't want that".

She described an encounter she said took place in 1996 at the Hotel Bel-Air when she was in her mid-30s.

Former "Cosby Show" star Keshia Knight Pulliam lent her support to Bill Cosby in court on Monday because "it's what you do".

He apologised to his family, friends and fans, adding he would "do everything" in his power "to ensure this never happens again". The dashcam video shows an unsteady Tiger Woods struggling to execute field sobriety tests early Monday morning in Jupiter.

"I'm not going to predict what the outcome is", Allred said.

One of the big highlights from that deposition was Cosby acknowledging that, in the '70s, he got quaaludes, a very powerful sedative that the USA later banned. "I did not have the courage at the time to tell my family", she said. And just the man I grew up knowing. Cosby grinned at the defence table as she struggled to explain them.

I wonder if you just could tell us, first off, from the prosecution's stance in opening statements today, lay out the case that they laid out against Cosby today. On Monday a former assistant to Cosby's agent cried as she painstakingly testified that in 1996 Cosby made her take a pill that she said made her feel like she was under water before sexually assaulting her. Cosby's attorney pounced drawing attention to multiple inconsistency this her story and claimed she had selective amnesia. She then testified she woke up in the bed with her dress pulled up and her breasts exposed; she said Cosby was behind her making "grunting sounds".

Prosecutors brought in Miller and Johnson's mother to help bolster her testimony.

Ms Constand, 44, of the Toronto area, is expected to take the stand this week and tell her story in public for the first time.

She went on to say that she didn't go to the police at the time because, "I was afraid".

Of course, he says that they had consensual sex acts on the couch that night, but the prosecution says that she was frozen, paralyzed by the pills he gave her, unable to stop him, resist, refuse, or give consent. As an employer of talent giant William Morris, it would be career suicide for her to say anything.
