On Twitter, Trump decries obstruction probe related to 'phony' Russian Federation story

Mueller is investigating alleged Russian interference in the 2016 United States presidential election and possible collusion with the Trump campaign.

Mueller's probe has expanded to include examining whether Trump obstructed justice by attempting to curtail the FBI's probe of Russian meddling, the Washington Post reported on June 14.

The Post report Wednesday cites anonymous sources who were briefed on requests made by investigators.

Comey seemed to hint that the feds were coming for Trump during his Senate Intelligence Committee testimony.

A spokesman for Mueller's team declined to comment. Obama told intelligence officials to deliver a report on possible foreign interference before he left the White House in January 2017.

Comey, in his Congress testimony, expressed is belief that he was sacked because of his bureau's Russian Federation investigation.

Steve Scalise is in worse condition than many initially realized the day after he was shot at a congressional baseball practice. Support for Scalise was everywhere. "I am so grateful that the Capitol Police were there and were able to protect them all".

Quoting officials, the newspaper said one event of interest to Mueller is an exchange on March 22, when Coats told associates that Trump had asked him to intervene with Comey to get him to back off the focus on Trump's former national security advisor Mike Flynn as part of the Federal Bureau of Investigation probe of the Russian Federation affair.

For many Democrats, there's some irony in coming to Comey's defense and embracing his concerns about Trump.

Testifying last week before the same committee, Comey recalled that Trump had asked him to "let go" of a probe into onetime national security advisor Michael Flynn- exposing the president to accusations of obstruction of justice, a potentially impeachable offense.

The Justice Department subsequently released decades-old memos from its Office of Legal Counsel that it said supported Sessions' position. The Post report came days after a Trump confidant, Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy, told PBS the president is "considering" firing Mueller.

The obstruction of justice investigation into Trump began days after Comey was sacked on May 9, according to people familiar with the matter, the Washington Post said.

No longer is he merely focused on Moscow's efforts to interfere in the 2016 election, meaning he also appears to be zeroing in on Trump's actions since taking office on January 20. It is doubtful the White House could ultimately use executive privilege to try to block them from speaking to Mueller's investigators.

It has been great three-year run, but we feel like we can carry this forward. "But as a team we're going to have a conversation". Belk Arena was named in honor of Curry , who is also the school's all-time leading scorer.

The White House has been inconsistent with its public messaging about the dismissal - initially saying Trump took the recommendations of Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein about Comey's management of the FBI and his handling of the Clinton email investigation.

Justice Department policy is that a sitting president can not be indicted by a grand jury, the Post also reported Wednesday.

Trump and his supporters cast Comey's testimony that he had told the president he was not personally under investigation as vindication. Any findings by the department's investigation would be referred to Congress, where lawmakers would determine whether to impeach the president.

Sessions, a close Trump adviser during the battle for the presidency, said in his opening statement that it was a "detestable and appalling lie" to suggest he was aware of or participated in any collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign.

At a hearing last week, both Coats and Rogers said they were not pressured by the Trump administration. In the short letter Trump sent to Comey dismissing him from the FBI, he had thanked Comey for informing him that he was not under investigation.
