At least 20 passengers were injured after turbulence in a China Eastern plane during flight from Paris to Kunming in Yunnan province on Sunday.

Passengers suffered broken bones, cuts to the scalp and soft tissue injuries, the Xinhua state news agency reported.

China Eastern Airlines said on its official microblog account that it has arranged medical services but gave no other details.

Earlier this month, a China Eastern flight bound for Shanghai was forced to turn back to Sydney due to a mid-air emergency.

The pilot reported problems with the engine of the plane, another Airbus A330, about one hour after taking off. Passengers told media they smelt something burning inside the aircraft.
