Several injured in London after reports of vehicle ramming pedestrians

A man was found dead and at least eight people were hospitalized after an attacker rammed a van into a crowd of worshipers near a mosque in north London, in what police are treating as terrorism.

THE Muslim Council of Britain has appealed for calm while police probe the suspected terror attack outside Finsbury Mosque early this morning.

Responding to the attack, archbishop Justin Welby said: "The freedom to worship without fear is a right we cherish as a nation and was won at great human cost over many years".

The chairman of the Finsbury Park Mosque says the van crash that hit worshippers was a "cowardly attack" and urged Muslims going to mosques to be vigilant.

"- On its Twitter account, London's Metropolitan Police said "#SevenSisters Rd #Finsburypark incident - At this early stage there are no other suspects, however the investigation continues".

Prime Minister Theresa May said it was being treated as "a potential terrorist attack" and that she would hold a Cobra committee emergency meeting later on Monday.

"People were shouting this is an act of terrorism, even though he's white", another witness, Hillary Briffa, said, referring to the man taken away be police.

Father's Day is being celebrated today around the world
All that hard work to get close to me paid off because I am probably one of the biggest Daddy's girls you've met. With Father's Day drawing near, I think it's time I talk about my dads too - my dad and my biological dad.

"Our priority is to assess the level and nature of injuries and ensure that those most in need are treated first and taken to hospital".

"We call it a terrorist attack as we called it in Manchester, Westminster and London Bridge", Mohammed Kozbar said, according to The Sun.

- Jeremy Corbyn, the leader of Britain's opposition Labour Party tweeted: "I'm totally shocked at the incident at Finsbury Park tonight".

The attack comes just two weeks after the terror attack on London Bridge, where jihadis used a hired van to mow people down before stabbing revellers in nearby Borough Market.

One witness described being surrounded by bodies in the wake of the attack outside the Muslim Welfare House, yards from the mosque.

"It is too early to say if his death was as a result of this attack".

In 2015, the mosque was one of around 20 that took part in an open day organised by the MCB to promote better understanding of Islam following Islamist-inspired terrorist attacks in Paris.

Matsuyama's 66 was the lowest round of the day, while England's Tommy Fleetwood (72) finished a shot back in fourth at 11-under. From the start, Koepka imposed his will on the course birdieing the first two holes to take a lead he would never relinquish.

Witness Abdiqadir Warra told AFP the van "drove at people" and some of the victims were carried for several metres along the road. The Evening Standard newspaper said the van appeared to have been rented in Wales, although there was no immediate confirmation of this from the authorities.

"Basically, a van swerved into them deliberately", Versi told Reuters, citing a witness. His attack killed five people.

On May 22, a suicide attack killed 22 people and injured almost 60 after an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester.

"A number police units are at, and managing the cordons around, the crime scene, including local officers and those from neighbouring boroughs - supported by armed officers and the Territorial Support Group".
