Excellent course conditions helped keep scores low Saturday, including a record-setting 63 from Justin Thomas, as several golfers pushed into the top 10 with good performances in Round 3. There were five players in double digits Saturday at Erin Hills.

Scottie Scheffler is the low amateur at this year's U.S. Open.

Another 63 is perhaps unlikely because the breeze is finally predicted to pick up on Sunday, perhaps offering a stern test, though the course will probably remain fairly soft. I have no idea what tomorrow is going to be like but I'm confident that I am prepared for whatever happens, whether something bad happens or something good happens.

Brian Harman finished the day at 12 under, then surmised, "I'd have about a 10-shot lead in most Opens".

Mexico midfielder Carlos Vela got to the ball near the far post and sent it to the middle of the area for Chicharito's goal. Ochoa made a great diving save in the 85th to keep young Portugal forward Andre Silva from scoring with a header.

Fowler, sharing a house with Thomas this week, was being left behind until he ran off three straight birdies and shot 68.

The shackles are off England's Tommy Fleetwood, riding the momentum of an early season win at Abu Dhabi to contend at the U.S. Open, said former European Ryder Cup captain Paul McGinley. I've been there a handful of times and had some good finishes.

"I was glad to hang in there especially playing in the last group", he said.

"I'm looking forward to my shot at it, I know it's not going to be an easy day, for sure", Fowler said.

Along with Justin Thomas, who posted a record-breaking nine-under-par 63 in the third round, Brooks Koepka is also sitting on 11-under-par with Fleetwood and he reckons he can take full advantage of the scoreable back nine.

Arnold Palmer's 1960 US Open win honored at Erin
He had a six-shot lead at the turn but hit only three fairways on the nine and missed a 4-foot par putt on the 18th for a 70. Playing in the final group with Harman will be Thomas, who is almost as small but one of the longest hitters in the game.

The 24-year-old also stunned spectators with an incredible drive on the par-four 15th, when he reached the green and even managed to put backspin on the ball to leave himself a 10-foot putt for eagle.

Thomas poured that into becoming the 29th player with a 63 in a major championship. On the back nine, a double bogey on the 10th and an 8 on the par five 14th with a wedge to the green for my third shot made me finish sixth to Jack Nicklaus, the victor.

"I don't think I could play any different or score any better than I have done".

Erin - Rickie Fowler is confident of "getting the job done" after resurrecting his hopes of a maiden major at the US Open on Saturday. Reed's demonstrative nature fit in perfectly with a raucous gallery, and his performances on Saturday and Sunday under tremendous pressure were critical in the United States win.

Then again, none of the top 16 on the leaderboard has ever won a major.
