Stabbing at U.S. airport is an act of terror

USA law enforcement authorities say a man allegedly involved in the stabbing of a police officer at a MI airport is a Canadian resident.

Amor Ftouhi, 49, of Montreal, was immediately taken into custody.

Amor Ftouhi, a 50-year-old Canadian resident, has been charged with violence at an global airport, FBI Special Agent David Gelios said. "However, at this time we are taking extra precautions just to be safe".

NBC News reported that the suspect stabbed the officer multiple times while shouting "Allahu Akbar" - which means "God is greatest" in Arabic.

Officials said it appeared Ftouhi may be a "lone wolf".

The FBI has said it is investigating the stabbing of a police officer in the neck at a MI airport as an act of terrorism.

One witness told The Flint Journal that he saw the victim "on his hands and knees and bleeding from the neck".

"Lt. Neville got him to stop stabbing him", Miller said. Hs condition has since been upgraded to stable after he underwent surgery.

A Bishop International Airport officer was stabbed earlier today, Wednesday, June 21, in an incident which officials fear may be terror-related.
