India arrests villagers for cheering Pakistan cricketers in Champions Trophy

Victorious Pakistan players dominated the Champions Trophy team of the tournament which was announced on Monday (Tuesday NZ time) with their captain Sarfraz Ahmed named captain of the side.

The Champions Trophy maybe scrapped in favour of an expanded World T20 in 2021, according to International Cricket Council (ICC) CEO Dave Richardson.

It was Pakistan's first major worldwide 50-over trophy since winning the 1992 World Cup.

This is not the first time that cricket fans have been arrested in India and Pakistan for supporting the rival teams or players.

Best revival went to Jitney by August Wilson, who lived in Seattle and wrote at Victrola and the Canterbury in his later years. But the ultimate insider was first-time host Kevin Spacey , who danced, joked and sang his way through the telecast easily .

Pakistan won the cricket final by 180 runs.

"I think great things went for me and my team and my country", Sarfraz told reporters after a win made all the more astounding by the fact Pakistan had suffered a 124-run defeat by India in their tournament opener at Edgbaston on June 4. "With the World Cup becoming a ten-team event, it's nearly like the World Cup is becoming more like the Champions Trophy, which I think is a good thing", ICC CEO David Richardson was quoted as saying by Espncricinfo on Wednesday. Whether that gets changed, the consideration has been given to changing to two T20s in a four-year cycle which would mean swapping the Champions Trophy for a World T20.

The former South Africa wicketkeeper also said the World T20 could include up to 20 teams in the future.

Richardson believes that World T20s attract a lot more attention than ODI tournaments and also generate significant revenue for the television companies. "I am confident that Pakistan cricket is back on track and we will see this team reach some incredible highs in the years to come, especially if the team continues to play with the kind of passion and commitment displayed in this tournament", he added.
