Jordan Spieth holes bunker shot to win Travelers playoff

Jordan Spieth birdied three of the last four holes, including the last with a dramatic 20-foot putt, to grab a one-stroke lead after Saturday's third round of the US PGA Travelers Championship.

Spieth, 23, joined Tiger Woods as the only PGA Tour players with 10 victories before turning 24 in the era since World War II. Woods had 15 victories before he turned 24.

It was a hard back nine Sunday at the Travelers Championship, as Spieth blew a three-shot lead and flirted with water on three separate occasions.

With Berger landing just off the edge of the green, he had to make a long putt to force a second playoff hole. He lofted it over the hill and sank the attempt off of the roll for birdie. He'll start the day eight shots back of Spieth and start from the 10th tee at 12:35 p.m.

Spieth didn't waste any time extending his lead to three strokes Sunday.

Steph Curry doesn't want to visit the White House
The team's three point shooting savant Stephen Curry went to Hollywood Thursday night, but may join his teammates for the weekend. The brothers took turns climbing on top of a water cooler to see over the crowd and jumped with delight as Curry's bus went by.

"That's incredible", Spieth said.

Again Spieth answered the challenge, firing his tee shot at the par-4 15th into a greenside bunker, then blasting out inches from the cup for a tap-in birdie to reclaim sole possession of the lead at 10-under.

The perception is that Spieth has had an off year, but if he can continue his current form Sunday, then he is in position to pick up his second win of 2017.

Sunday's win was also his first win in a tournament debut.

Boo Weekley, who began the round a shot back in second place, shot 37 on the back nine to tie for fifth at 9 under, despite the support of a large gallery, which could be heard cheering "Boooo!" and "Boo-S-A!" every time he did something good.

Lions' tactics likely to change: Hansen
They would have been desperate for a win to break the All Blacks' remarkable record at Eden Park and set themselves up. Down just 13-8, the Lions threw away a handful of decent opportunities to score before running out of steam.

Daniel Summerhays, Chase Seiffert and Wesley Bryan are tied for fourth at 6-under. He shot a 73 to finish at even par.

Day shot a 69, but signed for a 70 after marking a par on his card at the third hole, where he actually made birdie.

Grayson Murray had the tournament's only hole-in-one, acing the 177 yard eighth hole with an 8-iron.

The closing charge by Spieth followed back-to-back bogeys from the 13th and put him at 12-under-par 198, while Weekley made five birdies in a bogey-free back nine including the last two holes to shoot 65 for an 11-under total. He shot a 68 to finish at 5 under.
