Spieth birdies 18th to keep Travelers lead

Danny Lee has scored his biggest payday of the PGA Tour season after a third-equal effort at the Travelers Championship, but it was Jordan Spieth who grabbed the title with a remarkable bunker shot.

"If I was in Berger's shoes, I'd be cursing Jordan Spieth right now for the break off the tee and then holing a 30-yard bunker shot", Spieth said. Daniel Berger, who had a three stroke lead after three rounds here at the Travelers a year ago, is third and two strokes off the pace.

Just four years later, Spieth has two major victories and 10 wins overall at age 23 - even Jack Nicklaus can't say the same.

"As for my putting, we will see and I am not so sure but then my putting could not have been any worse than what it was the first three days".

But Padraig Harrington slid 13 places down the leaderboard with a disappointing 71 that left him eight shots adrift of Spieth, while defending champion Russell Knox is a further stroke behind.

South Korea urges North to end weapons development
The US Defense Intelligence Agency warned last month that North Korea was on an "inevitable" path to achieving this. It has carried out five nuclear weapons tests to date and has threatened to carry out a sixth at any moment.

It promises to be an interesting final pairing: Spieth, the unflappable golden boy of golf, vs. Weekley, the good ol' country boy from Milton, Fla., whose appeal stems from his homespun humor and the fact that fans love to yell "Booooo!"

Spieth, one of the best putters on the planet, can analyze his stroke endlessly, while Weekley changes putters "like I change my underwear".

The first came at the fourth hole when his approach landed wide right of the green and he chipped to 2 feet for par. "Good short-game shots are the reason you stay in tournaments".

For Weekley, his goal was simply to contend for his first Tour win since 2013.

Sixth-ranked Spieth, the 2015 Masters and US Open champion, shook off back-to-back bogeys at 13 and 14 with a sizzling finish, curling in his final putt for a four-under par 66 to reach 12-under 198 after 54 holes. Gene Littler did it in 1959 and Tim Morris in 1982.

TCU shutout against Florida, eliminated from CWS
Mainieri said after the game that Lange likely will throw against if the Tigers advance to next week's title series. The TCU careers of eight seniors who have been a part of four consecutive trips to Omaha have now come to a close .

"I really do think I saved two shots around the greens there. If I can strike the ball like this and putt average, this is sort of what I can do", said McIlroy.

"I've played great today, but obviously I wanted to win".

It did not make a world of difference for the Northern Irishman, who shot 70 for an even-par 210 total that was one stroke inside the cut for Sunday's final round.

CT natives Brett Stegmaier (Madison) and J.J. Henry (Fairfield) stand at 3-under and even par, respectively. He won the Senior British Open and PURE Insurance Championship previous year.
