Philip was admitted to a private London hospital on Tuesday evening as a "precautionary measure" for treatment of an infection arising from a pre-existing condition.

A spokesperson for the Palace confirmed the Duke had left hospital, but declined to give any more details on the condition.

The Queen, who will give her annual speech at the opening of Parliament today, will attend the Royal Ascot races later this afternoon.
