Honda recalls 1.2M Accords, says battery sensors can catch fire

Honda will debut its 10th generation Accord model Friday, July 14 at the Garden Theater in Detroit.

Honda has also confirmed that the tenth generation Accord will be the first front wheel drive vehicle to get a 10-speed automatic transmission.

The sedan's appearance (the coupe variant has been discontinued) is akin to a "sprinter in the blocks", the automaker says, due to its low and wide body.

Honda said its 10th-generation Accord is created to give a sporty, athletic appearance.

The Accord is more connected than ever. Designers gave it a bolder and more upright front fascia.

The sport-inspired steering wheel is more "intricately contoured" and has deep thumb rests. However, with a larger focus on stringent emissions and better efficiency ratings, the Japanese auto giant has made a decision to bring an end to the large powertrain for something that's more economical. The new seats feature improved shoulder bolsters and more heavily padded armrests.

Heading into the stock price potential, Emerson Electric Co. needs to grow just 4.06% to cross its median price target of $62.5. This company shares are 157.73% off its target price of $2.5 and the current market capitalization stands at $61.4M. (NYSE:EMR).

New seat padding is said to be "high-accuracy" and with variable firmness for comfort and support. The driver's seat has 12-way adjustment, and the front seats can be heated and cooled.

An all-new HMI is present in the Accord, which has a new 8-in. There are a number of customizable tiles for various apps. (15-cm) head-up display with selectable information.

Beyond this, the auto offers wireless device charging, 4G LTE-powered Wi-Fi and even over-the-air system updates. And the new Accord Hybrid will be available in five trims: Hybrid, EX, EX-L, EX-L Navi, and Touring. The replacement to the former V6 unit will be the new 2-litre turbocharged four-cylinder from the new Civic Type R. However, don't expect the new Accord to be as manic as the Type R, and instead will get a different low inertia turbo. The engine is paired with the first 10-speed automatic in a front-drive vehicle and is also available with the six-speed manual transmission on the Sport trim. For other motorists, the 1.5-liter unit can also be had with a CVT, while its larger sibling is offered with a 10-speed automatic, a world first innovation for a front-wheel-drive auto. The motor is already seen on the new Civic and CR-V models in Honda's line-up. The company did not supply projected fuel economy for any of the models, but promised the new hybrid version will be more fuel efficient than the current one.

The hybrid system in the 2018 Accord is all-new. Passenger volume is up 2.5 cubic feet while trunk space is up 16.7 cubic feet.

It's unclear how much more fuel the new Accord Hybrid will sip compared with the version Honda just past year released. While on paper it's not a big leap forward, the low-end torque should make the Accord feel stronger.

As with most recent sedan redesigns, the Accord's wheelbase and overall width grows while height is lowered.

Trump Meeting With French President Macron In Paris
The government, the lawyer said, "made the further accommodation of allowing his Russian lawyer into the country to assist". But now the lawyer says she was in fact summoned to Trump Tower, and didn't beg for the meeting herself.

For ultra-thrifty motoring, a hybrid version of the Accord will also be offered. In practical terms, that means the new vehicle weighs less, has a slightly longer wheelbase, slightly wider body and lower seating position than its predecessor. The seats are pushed in just a bit, improving hip room slightly.

Honda says the Accord has 29% ultra-high-strength steel content, the most of any mass-produced Honda auto, making for a light and rigid body structure.

Overall, the Accord is between 110 and 176 pounds lighter, depending on specification. Road salt can get in and cause corrosion and an electrical short.

On the technology front, all 2018 Honda Accords feature Honda Sensing, the brand's suite of advanced driver-assistance technologies.

All '18 Accords will be assembled at Honda's Marysville, OH, plant, with engines and transmissions sourced in the U.S.
