Wenger reveals he has exchanged messages with Alexis Sanchez over player's future

The 28-year-old has been a source of transfer rumors throughout the summer with Chelsea, Man City and Bayern Munich all linked with his signature.

Sanchez has not travelled on the club's pre-season tour due to his involvement in the recent Confederations Cup, and has instead been given two weeks worth of holiday in an attempt to recover for the new campaign.

Sanchez's future at the Emirates has been the subject of speculation for much of the summer as he's failed to sign a new deal and only has one year left on his current contract.

Arsene Wenger is adamant that Alexis Sanchez will remain an Arsenal player beyond this summer and confirmed that he had spoken to the forward about staying with the Gunners despite interest from other clubs.

The Frenchman was then asked to clarify if Sanchez is staying at Arsenal, and reponded: "Did I not just answer that question?"

The veteran Gunners trainer also revealed he was not expecting Sanchez till the end of the month, having granted him an extended holiday to recover from his exertions with Chile in Russian Federation.

"You can't tell them they are not having a holiday and must come back and continue, it's impossible".
