HTC backlash over pop-up ads on keyboard

The manufacturer recently told HTC U11 owners to uninstall recent updates to the TouchPal keyboard. Judging by HTC's response to the whole matter, it seems that the ads were added to TouchPal without HTC's approval. It is the default installed keyboard on the Lenovo Yoga Book (Android edition). (Update: See statement above.) The company's official Twitter account is telling angry users to uninstall the latest update to TouchPal via the Settings app, suggesting that the appearance of ads in this update is a mistake. They are probably present because they're controlled by TouchPal. But, smartphone users don't expect default apps on their smartphones to display ads as they have paid for it along with the hardware. On the one hand that is an easy thing to do. It also means that HTC could be in the process of removing the ads for good.
