The doctors told her that they had found 27 contact lenses in her eye.

Last November 2016, a woman in the United Kingdom and her doctors were both surprised when they discovered she had 27 contact lenses in a single eye, according to Optometry Today.

"None of us have ever seen this before", said Morjaria.

She told Optometry Today: "It was such a large mass".

According to Dr. Morjaria, given the fact that they didn't know for how long had the lenses been there, if they continued the surgery then the patient would have had a lot of bacteria in her conjunctiva, increasing the risks of endophthalmitis, which is a bad inflammation of the eye.

She said that she had noticed a bit of dryness and itching, but had not even noticed that any lenses had gone missing.

Dr Morjaria published the case in the British Medical Journal and hopes that it will lead to more awareness about proper contact lens care and eye health. Apparently, the 67-year-old patient hadn't noticed.

"She was quite shocked". Amazing. Please take out your contact lenses. "She thought her previous discomfort was just part of old age and dry eye".
