Trinamool backs Congress' Rajya Sabha nominee

The Congress on Thursday chose to field its sitting MP Pradip Bhattacharya for the sixth Rajya Sabha seat from West Bengal, rejecting the Communist Party of India (Marxist) proposal to name an independent candidate it could support, reported The Times of India.

On Friday, Banerjee went to the Assembly, spoke to Congress leaders Bhattacharya and Abdul Mannan and announced her support. "He will win with the help of our votes", Banerjee added.

Biswanath Chakraborty, professor of political science at Kolkata's Rabindra Bharati University, said the Congress must have fielded Pradip Bhattacharya only after making sure that the chief minister would back him.

McCain ingresó a la cámara alta 29 minutos antes de la votación y fue ovacionado por sus colegas de ambos partidos y los visitantes que observaban desde arriba.

This has put a huge question mark on whether the Congress and CPI (M) will come together for the upcoming municipal elections in Dhupguri in Jalpaiguri and Pujali in South 24 Parganas, scheduled for 13 August.

The swift move comes after the CPM central committee rejected the Congress offer to support its general secretary Sitaram Yechury in the Rajya Sabha polls.

In a odd gesture, the CPI (M) candidate said "there are like-minded people in Trinamool Congress and I urge them to vote for me in the RS election". Banerjee's unconditional support when Congress needed it badly will definitely give the Trinamool chief a premium role in opposition politics, particularly after Bihar CM Nitish Kumar dumped the opposition to shake hands with BJP, and CPM ruled out any alliance or adjustment with Congress in electoral politics.

DJ Alexander Traded to Seahawks for Kevin Pierre-Louis
The 6-foot, 230-pound Pierre-Louis did most of his work on special teams last season, logging 227 special-teams snaps in 13 games. The Seattle Seahawks dealt linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis to the Kansas City Chiefs in exchange for fellow linebacker D.J.

"It's a landmark decision". A top CPI (M) leader seemed to disagree with his party's decision.

Bhattacharya is a former Bengal Congress president. "Congress has chose to field its own candidate".

Though Bhattacharya's comment "our affairs" sort of vindicated Mamata's comment that he isn't apolitical. Moreover, Bhattacharya's nomination has been disputed and it is a possibility that it could be cancelled for not being filed within the stipulated deadline, according to a legislative assembly official, who asked not be identified.

Storms Possible Friday into Saturday
This is one of those air masses that can virtually eliminate rain chances on a Summer day (something that isn't easy to achieve). Any storm that develops will be capable of producing wind gusts to 40 miles per hour , brief heavy rain and frequent lightning.
