Dolphins' Jay Ajayi leaves practice, being evaluated for a concussion

Miami Dolphins coach Adam Gase made a decision to risk heavy contact by allowing tackling at practice Monday, and the hitting was so fierce that running back Jay Ajayi suffered a possible concussion.

Monday's training camp practice was also Miami's first day of tackling.

Dolphins coach Adam Gase confirmed that Ajayi was being evaluated and said the team wouldn't have a confirmed diagnosis until later in the day. Ajayi also took a big hit from linebacker Lawrence Timmons and defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh during the session, according to the Palm Beach Post. The third-year rusher was seen walking with team trainers to the locker room and did not return to the field.

Ajayi, 24, should be considered a Top-5 running back this year in fantasy football. He could be looking at 350 to 400 touches this season.

Adding to Gase's reasoning for going with live tackling for today's practice was that the number of missed tackles last season were unacceptable, and it took the team much longer than he would have anticipated to improve in the trenches.
