Guangzhou Evergrande manager Luis Felipe Scolari confirmed on Sunday that Barcelona have paid a fee of 40 million euros for Brazil global Paulinho, who is expected to finalize his move to Camp Nou next week.

Over recent days, a number of sources in Spain had suggested that an agreement to take Paulinho to the Camp Nou had been reached, with Chinese Super League outfit Guangzhou Evergrande set to pocket a fee in the region of 40 million Euro for the dynamic South American.

Guangzhou Evergrande manager Luis Felipe Scolari has also confirmed the transfer, which is expected to be officially announced shortly.

Military confrontation with North Korea is not imminent
In response, North Korea announced a detailed plan to fire ballistic missiles towards Guam, a USA territory in the Pacific. The CIA chief described Kim as "rational" and responsive to "adverse circumstances".

Paulinho joined Guangzhou after a disappointing spell in the English Premier League with Spurs and has established himself as a key player for his Chinese club and his country.

"Paulinho's departure is a loss for Guangzhou Evergrande but a gain for Chinese football", said the Portuguese coach after his Shanghai SIPG beat Chongqing Lifan 3-2.

Paulinho had recently been linked with a move to the Spanish side but Guangzhou chairman Xu Jiayin had denied that the former Corinthians midfielder would be sold after rejecting two previous bids.

Barcelona host rivals Real Madrid in the first leg of the Supercopa de Espana on Sunday and, after Wednesday's return clash, Ernesto Valverde's side open their LaLiga campaign at home to Real Betis next weekend.
