The 41-year-old I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here presenter said he was left terrified after an "insane" pills binge almost killed him. Ant admitted he was popping pills "willy nilly" after a botched knee operation leaving the star unable to walk without unbearable pain.

"I was at the point where anything - prescription drugs, non-prescription drugs - I would take", he told the publication. He pleaded with his wife, make-up artist Lisa Armstrong, to take him to hospital after a night bingeing on tramadol, morphine and alcohol.

"In hindsight, I should have mentioned it earlier but you're embarrassed about it".

"I want to thank my wife, family and closest friends for helping me through this really hard time", he continued", he said. It sends you insane.

Speaking to the newspaper, he explained: "Initially I was prescribed co-codamol, codeine, the normal stuff you would get, and then a lot of opium-based stuff". "As a general rule, anything that is opium-based can be addictive".
