The "Apple TV 4K" box supports 4K and HDR

4K TVs have been dropping in price dramatically over the a year ago, so it's no surprise that Apple has chose to enter the market, too. If a fifth-generation model is in the works, 4K support must surely be the headline feature for the new box.

Indeed that task looks promising. The box supports both Dolby Vision and HDR 10; with this, viewers get to enjoy content that has a greater dynamic range that ordinary television and movies.

The Apple TV 4K is powered by the A10X Fusion chip - last seen in this year's iPad Pro models - as well as 3GB of RAM, just like we expected. And so, today, the iPhone-maker unveils the all-new 5th-generation Apple TV with 4K support. They should also make the Apple TV a more capable gaming device. The latest Apple TV will be available on September 22nd for $179 with 32GB of internal storage or $199 with 64GB.

Electric Cooperative: Convoy of Trucks Headed to SC to Help Restore Power
A total of 200 men are on their way to help the more than 75 percent of Floridians without power, officials say. The crews will work to restore power to homes and businesses that were knocked out during Hurricane Irma.

More details to follow. It's now pretty much standard above a certain size, which means the fourth-gen Apple TV is rapidly starting to show its age.

Billy Lynn's Long Half-Time Walk is the first 4K Blu-ray on the market supporting 60FPS, and I wouldn't be surprised if more directors start experimenting with the higher frame rate. As previously rumored, Apple confirms that it has been working with movie studios to bring big movie releases to the iTunes store in 4K and/or HDR; anyone who has previously bought one of these movies in non-4K will get an automatic, free upgrade to the better quality.

Branson says relief and rebuilding efforts will be a massive undertaking and will require a large workforce to get things going. Branson, who bought the island paradise when he was just 28-years-old, said he had "never seen anything like this hurricane".

What does seem certain is that a new model is on the way: Apple CEO Tim Cook told investors that the current hardware and software was "building a foundation" for the company's future plans in the area. And what about the Apple Watch 3? That seems to be the case of flawless timing, although I am sure some pundits will criticize Apple for being "late". There's also plenty of 4K/60FPS content on YouTube to help you get a taste of the format. With more memory and power, Apple is more likely to be limited by its deal-making rather than its devices.

Stay tuned for more in the smart home space from the Apple TV too.
