'Horrific' Princess Diana memorial in United Kingdom gets blasted on social media

A council's "hideous" tribute to Princess Diana has been mocked as "an insult" to the late royal.

The 20th anniversary of Princess Diana's death has been marked in manifold ways, from a handful of official (and unofficial) documentaries to the planned unveiling of a new statue to a private memorial service, attended by her close family.

Richard Wilkins said it looked more like Worzel Gummidge, a living scarecrow played by Jon Pertwee, in the children's 1979 TV show, while Julie White commented: "I appreciate all the work that goes into the dressing of a well but this is just terrible". How much money has gone into this?

One of the most popular comments on a Facebook post of the tribute reads: "I don't remember Diana having a stroke?"

Supreme Court allows Trump refugee travel ban
That ruling was due to take effect Tuesday because the lower court had said thousands of refugees were "gravely imperiled". Naureen Shah, Amnesty International USA's senior director of campaigns, said the refugee ban is inherently cruel.

Others questioned why the tribute, which took a painstaking 120 hours to make, did not feature Diana's date of birth and date of death. People on Twitter and Facebook write the cruellest things that they would never dream of saying to the person they're discussing. Show some respect. I know for one I couldn't do a better job!

A spokesman for Chesterfield Council described the artwork, made from flowers, egg shells, leaves and grass seeds, as a "talking point".

"All art is meant to be a talking point and that certainly seems to be the case with this year's design", the council told the Derbyshire Times.

Welbeck's second goal, from Aaron Ramsey's 50th minute pass, secured Arsenal's first win since the opening weekend. The Brazil forward was then substituted and his replacement, Sane, grabbed two goals as well.

The floral dressing was blessed in a religious service Saturday.

The memorial, which is on display outside Chesterfield's Market Hall in Derbyshire, was created as part of the town's "well dressing" celebrations, an annual custom in the county, which involves making pictures using only natural materials.

'The well dressing is created to attract visitors to the area and if the publicity encourages more people to come and visit the market and local shops then that can only be good for Chesterfield'.

All those opponents are beatable and they should have additional motivation to win this first game against Sevilla at Anfield. Liverpool are also joined in the group with Russian side Spartak Moscow and Maribor of Slovenia.
