Ryanair seeks to process most passenger cancellation claims by Friday

Amid a flurry of complaints about customers being left stranded - with many forking out for accommodation and struggling to contact the airline - it announced on Wednesday that it was making progress in tackling the backlog.

Ryanair CEO Michael O'Leary acknowledged earlier this week that the company had "messed up", citing rostering problems as one of the reasons behind the mass cancellations. Originally nearly 400,000 were thought to be affected.
