The woman, whose identity hasn't been released by the Marines, is the fourth woman to attempt the course since ground-combat jobs opened to women a year ago.

Two women became the first to graduate from Army Ranger training camp earlier this year but have not yet been assigned to a regiment. One will be winning over Marines under her command, Hunter said, and the second will be coping with outside attention and critics who want to see her fail.
