Having taken four points from home games, Stoke could hardly have anticipated their awful start when they conceded on 83 seconds to a neat finish from Alvaro Morata.

The 24-year-old has six goals in his first six appearances for the English champions.

Stoke increased the pressure after the break, but former Real Madrid striker Morata doubled his tally with a brilliant solo goal to end home hopes of a revival.

Premier League leaders Manchester City and Manchester United have already secured a three-point advantage over the defending champions.

"Compared to the games we've had, without a doubt [they've had an easy start]", he added.

Micky Batshuayi scored a midweek hat-trick against the Championship side but starts on the bench today. "We want to fight in every competition we are playing".
