The last official word from the club on the status of Paul Pogba came yesterday, via Mourinho's weekly news conference. The Red Devils have not put a timescale on the 24-year-old's injury layoff, and Mourinho was once again reluctant to indicate when the club's record signing would return.

"The club have been in touch with Finnish muscle fix specialist Sakari Orava with a decision set to be made about whether or not surgery is required in the next few days".

While Dr Orava suggested Pogba may not need surgery, there are suggestions from United insiders that an operation may be required to ensure his hamstring injuries do not reoccur.

His injury is a little different to Dembele because he can heal without surgery.
