The Deputy President, Hon William Ruto has called the decision by Confederation of African Football (CAF) to strip Kenya the opportunity to host the 2018 Africa Nations Championships.

The African football chiefs accepted Gabon's intention to stage the Africa Cup of Nations in January this year despite the fact that the country was undergoing political strife borne from President Ali Bongo's re-election which was challenged by opposition candidate Jean Ping.

Failure to be able to host the 2018 CHAN competition is an indictment on the Sports ministry, which has spectacularly failed to distinguish itself under the stewardship of Cabinet Secretary Hassan Wario.

CAF made the decision to take the tournament away from Kenya at an executive committee meeting in Accra, Ghana, on Saturday. CAF ruled that the country lacks sufficient sporting infrastructure to host the 16-nation completion.

Caf announced that the decision to move the tournament was made "in light of accumulated delays from reports of the various inspection missions conducted in the country".

That re-vote is scheduled for next month, and the political instability has meant preparations for the tournament have been undermined.
