The host of the 2023 Rugby World Cup will be announced on that day, and it has emerged today that Ireland's bid has received a boost thanks to some classic French in-fighting.

CAF Drop Kenya As CHAN Host, Retain Cameroon For AFCON
CAF made the decision to take the tournament away from Kenya at an executive committee meeting in Accra, Ghana, on Saturday. CAF ruled that the country lacks sufficient sporting infrastructure to host the 16-nation completion.

They guaranteed that this fee would be underwritten by the French government.

Kevin Potts said that Ireland's bid combines all the advantages of a traditional Rugby market with the many opportunities of a new one, through unparalleled Government support, the availability and suitability of sold out, iconic stadiums set in the heart of cities and towns, and Ireland's unrivalled access, through our diaspora, to the North American market.

"Plus, a small nation hosting a major tournament, not just in Dublin but all round the island (including matches in Northern Ireland) certainly finds favour with the people".

He will be joined by Irish legend Brian O'Driscoll, Ireland captain Niamh Briggs, bid chairman Dick Spring, Sports Minister Shane Ross and Philip Browne of the IRFU.
