A 13th patient who lived inside a stifling Florida nursing home that lost its air conditioning during Hurricane Irma has died.

The nursing home and rehabilitation center is now just a homicide investigation crime scene after the state revoked the facility's license on September 20 and the facility laid off all 245 workers the same day.

Scott cited the 12 deaths after Hurricane Irma at the Rehabilitation Center of Hollywood Hills.

The Agency for Health Care Administration has suspended the license of the facility and 245 employees have since been laid off.

More than 100 patients were evacuated from the home on September 13 after three patients were found dead.

Rick Scott wants a commission that is revising the state constitution to include provisions to protect residents of nursing homes and assisted living facilities. The lawsuit seeks an injunction against the state. "But what I saw, none of those calls stated that there was an emergency".

Last month, the nursing home was evacuated as patients succumbed to the hot conditions in quick succession. "The respondent has demonstrated that its physical plant and its management cannot provide an environment where residents can be provided care and services in a safe and sanitary manner". The commission will put proposed constitutional amendments on the November 2018 ballot.
