On Tuesday, state police chief Loknath Behera delivered a message in Hindi and Bengali, asking migrant workers not to believe in fake campaigns that they are unsafe in Kerala.

"Miscreants spreading rumours among migrant workers in Kerala to cause discord is highly condemnable", Vijayan tweeted, adding that "Govt. assures that there is no cause of worry".

Behera pointed out the government has launched various welfare measures such as strict implementation of labour laws, ensuring good accommodation and other amenities, providing education and healthcare to children of migrant labourers and literacy campaign for migrants.

According to the Newspaper, Efforts were on to trace the source of the malicious propaganda and stern action would be taken against the offenders.The Minister said the government was rolling out a scheme to provide medical care and insurance for migrant workers in several sectors.
