Pinarayi Vijayan's LDF government orders vigilance probe against ex-CM Oomen Chandy

In a big blow to former chief minister Oommen Chandy the state government on Wednesday made a decision to order a Vigilance probe against former chief minister and Congress leader Oommen Chandy in connection with the Solar Scam Case.

Reacting to the major development, Saritha Nair called it a vindication for her. Notably, the couple flaunted their political connections and proximity to the then CM Chandy to convince potential investors to invest in their venture - this was amongst the most-talked about issue in the case.

The report is learnt to have said that former chief minister and his office staff accepted bribe from the Team Solar company for helping them to get orders to set up solar panels in various government departments.

The Commission had recommended probe against all these people. The commission also found that Chandy's close aide and previous home minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan misused his powers to help save Chandy, Vijayan added, for which he too will be prosecuted under criminal charges by a special vigilance team. Cases will also be registered against Congress leaders Thampannor Ravi and Benny Behnan. He denied committing any wrong and demanded the public release of the judicial commission report.

The Cabinet meet which looked into the report accepted all the findings of Justice Sivarajan Commission and legal advice given by the Advocate General and Director General of Prosecution.

The damage for the Congress doesn't stop there.

"Another case based on the letter by Saritha that she was sexually exploited will also be registered as receiving money and sexual favours are equally culpable".

CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that a fresh probe will be conducted under the anti-corruption law.
