Facebook had appointed the former Adobe South Asia region MD Umang Bedi in June previous year to build and maintain strategic relationships with top clients and regional agencies in the country.

Commenting on Bedi's exit, Facebook said, "He's built a really strong team and business during his time with us, and we wish him all the best".

According to some reports, Facebook has appointed Sandeep Bhushan as interim MD in India.

He is now developing strategies and partnerships for the social media platform. Mint reported a year ago that Bedi's mission was about making Facebook relevant for businesses.

Most recently, the social networking giant announced the launch of its Messenger Lite app in India. The aim of the initiative is to enable local entrepreneurs to earn a steady income by providing quality Internet access to neighbours.
