NBC Is Facing Criticism For Dropping Ronan Farrow's Harvey Weinstein Story

Sources inside and outside of NBC told the Huffington Post that by August, Farrow had an audio recording of Weinstein admitting to groping a woman but the network had concerns with the story's sourcing and cleared Farrow to take it to The New Yorker. MSNBC's Rachel Maddow asked Farrow about this in an onscreen interview Tuesday night. "We launched [Farrow] on that story, we encouraged him to report that story", he said.

Multiple sources say that Farrow had secured an on-camera interview with Rose McGowan, who the New York Times revealed as one of the many women to whom Weinstein paid settlements.

India has taken the stance of not allowing active euthanasia (where a life ends through the administration of lethal substances). However, it does allow "passive euthanasia" where life support is withdrawn for patients in permanently vegetative state.

Two sources told THR that Weinstein's legal team attempted to block Farrow from taking material that he gathered at NBC News to The New Yorker. "In fact, there were multiple determinations that it was reportable at NBC".

Taken on its own, you'd probably just assume that this was a bad decision on the part of NBC News, or that Farrow's story wasn't in good enough shape to run.

"I walked into the door at The New Yorker with an explosively reportable piece that should've been public earlier".

Farrow did not return requests for comment. Portions of the audio - which stemmed from the investigation into charges made by model and actress Ambra Battilana Gutierrez - was released with The New Yorker story and has been played incessantly as major media outlets have picked up Farrow's reporting.

Responded Farrow: "You would have to ask NBC and NBC executives about the details of that story". The piece included "extensive, on-the-record interviews and a damning audiotape of Weinstein", Fox News reported. His show got the axe, but he still has a non-exclusive deal with NBC News. "These are women coming forward with a very, very hard set of stories and I really want the focus to be on them and what they did and continuing their fight".

"By several accounts, at least eight women claiming to have been sexually harassed, abused, or assaulted by Weinstein had agreed to go on camera - majority anonymously in shadow, but two alleged victims with their names and faces", according to the Beast. "Access Hollywood" is owned by NBC, and Bush had recently joined NBC News as a "Today Show" co-host. "We are proud of that", Oppenheim said. "We supported him and gave him resources to report that story over many, many months".
