Video in Malaysian court shows practice before Kim attack

Security videos showing the estranged half brother of North Korea's leader being attacked at a Malaysian airport and the two suspects hurrying away afterwards were presented at their murder trial on Wednesday.

Police officer Wan Azirul Nizam Che Wan Aziz testified that the second suspect, Indonesian Siti Aisyah, can not be seen attacking Kim, but he identified her as a person seen in the video running away in a different direction.

A series of closed-circuit television (CCTV) videos were also played in court that showed both the accused women in contact with two unidentified men believed to have provided the deadly VX nerve agent that was used to kill Mr Kim Jong Nam.

"The man (seen) walking together with Doan is referred to as Mr Y", he said, adding that the man had smeared a liquid, believed to be VX, onto Doan's hands. Hisyam Teh, another member of her defense team, has argued that she had "no knowledge at all what had been applied to her hands". Hanamori had given instructions to Mr. Y, while James had "recruited" Siti Aisyah, Wan Azirul said, without elaborating.

Prosecutors contend the women knew they were handling poison, and scientists who testified earlier said VX could be removed safely by careful hand-washing.

Indonesian Siti Aisyah and Vietnamese national Doan Thi Huong were charged in March along with four unnamed others for the murder of Kim Jong Nam at Kuala Lumpur worldwide airport on Feb 13. Interpol issued a red notice on the four in March.
