Roger Goodell's contract extension with National Football League remains on track, says Falcons owner

"I don't have any reaction to that".

In a tweet sent out not long after NFL Commissioner #Roger Goodell made the announcement that the league would allow players to protest during the national anthem, Donald Trump wasted no time giving his thoughts.

"I think we all have mutual interests", Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins said.

Meanwhile, Goodell is looking to play King Solomon with the anthem protest issue - except he actually wants to go through with cutting the baby in half, acknowledging the legitimacy of the players' protests while telling the fans he's really on their side.

"The NFL has decided that it will not force players to stand for the playing of our National Anthem". We believe. And everyone should stand for the National Anthem that's an important part of our policy.

"We're not afraid of the tough conversations; that's what we're having with our players ... to make sure we know where they're coming from". "NFL executives and owners joined NFLPA executives and player leaders to review and discuss plans to utilize our platform to promote equality and effectuate positive change", the statement said. "We feel the same about patriotism and the flag and I believe our players feel that way". Dallas Cowboys' owner Jerry Jones made headlines after saying he'd bench anyone on the team who chose to kneel for the anthem.

Wetter And Warmer: NOAA Issues Winter Weather Forecast
Areas prone to lake-effect snow will also see high totals, including Cleveland, Ohio; Erie, Pennsylvania; and Buffalo, New York. Much of the USA should expect another warm winter, but not quite as toasty as the last two years, forecasters say.

While many things were discussed, apparently a change to the National Anthem policy was not one of them.

The NFL and NFLPA issued a joint statement Tuesday afternoon after their meeting earlier in the day at the league offices in NY.

Did the National Football League weigh the loss of support from those who oppose kneeling against the difficulties of hosting games without star players who refused to capitulate?

Some football players at El Camino have chose to take a knee during the national anthem.

"Then make a request to stop kneeling", Crutchfield says.

By explaining the NFL's straddle-the-fence attempt to placate two polar opposites (an impossibility, by the way), Goodell gave credence to the belief that the league's declining TV ratings are directly related to this one issue.

The new investment creates a potential conflict for Alphabet , which was one of the early investors in Uber. But now, it appears, there's another complication in Alphabet's (NASDAQ: GOOGL) relationship with Uber.

President Trump seems somewhat shaky on the first amendment this week; he also pondered aloud whether media networks' licenses should be revoked, causing Senator Ben Sasse (R-NE) to ask, "Are you tonight recanting of the oath you took on January 20th to preserve, protect, and defend the First Amendment?" They might not want to get political, but it's far, far too late for that. For now, at least, it looks like they'll keep working together, with the owners set to grant the players the access to continue these discussions directly with their highest-ranking bosses.

"In a crisis situation, you need to respond boldly", says Dean Crutchfield, founder of The Dean Crutchfield Company.

After former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick kneeled during the anthem previous year to protest police killings of unarmed black men, dozens of other players joined him to draw greater attention to social and racial injustice.

And perhaps more important, National Football League leaders refused to let Trump hijack the narrative of the protest. "We'll deal with those issues if they come up".

"We're going to continue to work to try to put that at zero".

NOTES: The 2018 draft will be held at the Dallas Cowboys' stadium in Arlington, Texas, from April 28-30.
