The company has reduced the validity period of Rs. 399 pack from 84 days to 70 days and now the customer will get only 70 GB of 4G data under the Rs. 399 plan.

On the other hand, Jio has increased the data it offers with the Rs 149 prepaid pack, offering 4GB instead of 2GB data along with the 28 days validity and other details remain unchanged. Consumers with heavy data usage can also switch to INR 509 plan which offers a 2GB daily limit with a gross data of 98GB spread across 49 days.

This means that people will get 70GB of 4G data instead of 84GB in all. Jio says that unlimited SMS referred in the plan benefits will be capped at 100 free SMS per day. Earlier under the Rs 96 plan, Jio used to offer 7GB of data with 1GB of FUP limit for 7 days. The validity period is 90 days.

Reliance Jio's hike in prices comes days after the telecom posted a loss of Rs 270.5 crore for the quarter ended September 2017, against Rs 21.3 crore loss in the preceding June quarter. All plans of Jio will continue to offer unlimited voice calls. With the launch of new Jio 459 plan, Jio also revised the 399 plan of Jio. We'll have to wait and see whether the company's quick growth will maintain the same levels now that its plans have gone from a free for all to a more sober system.
