Not just kind of rich but, exorbitantly rich. Forbes has updated their rankings after a significant overnight development, and Bezos tops Gates as the richest man in the world.

Overall, through Bezos dedication to innovation and technology, Amazon has become a leader in e-commerce and cloud data hosting.

Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos added $6.24 billion to his wealth, becoming the world's richest person ahead of Microsoft founder Bill Gates.

Inc. shares surged at the open of United States markets Friday, lifting its founder's net worth by $6.6 billion to $90.2 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. The stock climbed 10 per cent to US$1,070.59, after the retailer reported results that beat Wall Street estimates.

But according to Forbes magazine, which closely follows the world's greatest personal fortunes, taking into account, among other aspects, the value of their stock market assets, Bezos surpassed Gates on Friday as the richest person in the world.

At the end of trading on Thursday, Gates occupied the top spot in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, with a net worth of $88 billion.

RBS said it had taken out £708m in costs as part of a simplification programme that had reduced the size of the business. In response to the report, RBS said it had acknowledged failings and again apologised for its mistakes.

Mr Gates, 61, has given away nearly 700 million Microsoft shares and $2.9bn of cash and other assets since 1996, according to an analysis of his publicly disclosed giving.

Bezos also led the way on a morning that lifted the fortunes of some of the richest technology billionaires in the United States by a combined US$17 billion.

Next up is Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who's ranked fifth on the list at $72.4 billion, according to Bloomberg.

Marijuana users have more sex
Across all cycles of the survey, both men and women who used marijuana reported a higher frequency of sexual activity . Female smokers reported having sex 7.1 times during the previous four weeks, compared to only 6 times for non-smokers.

But Gates also got a boost as Microsoft stock rose 7%. Prior to the results, they were worth $49.3 billion and $48.2 billion, respectively.
