Just before 3 a.m. on Wednesday, smoke was reported inside a Lowell Street apartment in Manchester. A local woman was charged with animal cruelty after firefighters discovered the remains of a ferret burned inside of an oven.

A Manchester woman who roasted her roommate's beloved pet ferret alive in an oven told cops she brutally killed the animal because she was pregnant and her housemate had been stealing her clothes, police said.

Clifford's roommate, Cara Murray, claimed that Clifford put the ferret, Angel, in the oven and turned on the heat.
