Oscar De La Hoya Challenges Conor McGregor To A Fight

After nearly a decade in retirement, Oscar De La Hoya has revealed he has been "secretly training" and called out UFC superstar Conor McGregor for his comeback fight. He would also have marginally more chance of success against an older fighter who has been inactive for almost a decade and lost four out of his last seven bouts.

Speaking to Dash Radio, De La Hoya - who won an Olympic gold medal for the US at Barcelona 1992 - said: "You know I'm competitive, you know I still have it in me". Secretly training. I'm faster than ever, and stronger than ever.

The head of the commission that oversaw the Bellator 187 event in Dublin has claimed Conor McGregor has been axed from December's UFC 219. I'll come back for that.

"Two rounds. Just one more [fight]". I think it meant a lot for them to have him at their show, and they didn't think about what would happen if things boiled over.

Mark Goddard attempted to stop Mayweather from celebrating inside the ring leading to ugly scenes where the Irishman pushed the referee up against the cage before being escorted out of the arena. However, these are the same hurdles the UFC needed to work out in order for McGregor to fight Floyd Mayweather, and that got ironed out.

There's no time frame for a return right now, or whether the UFC would be interested in another co-promotion with De La Hoya's "Golden Boy Promotions".

"He would destroy me". So here's what the newly open to ideas De La Hoya said.

"I've been working out for the last five months". But it would seem De La Hoya saw the box office returns of Mayweather/McGregor, and the prospect of a giant payday has Oscar thinking things over. "You know I still have it in me".

McGregor - who remains under contract to UFC - is yet to respond to De La Hoya's comments.
