WhatsApp's new feature 'Restricted Groups' gives more power to group admins

As the name suggests, with Restricted Groups, WhatsApp will allow the group admins to control whether the group admins can send messages to the group or not - whether it's a text message, a photo, video, document or location. It is known for its streamlined group chat implementation.

"Restricted Groups" setting can only be activate by group admin only.

After integrating YouTube videos in the iOS version of WhatsApp through Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode, the platform is all ready to empower the group admins by allowing them to restrict any member from posting media and messages, if found irrelevant. This can be useful when group admins wish to make an announcement or discuss something important.

The problem has become so big that in some instances police and law enforcement agencies have issued notifications that they will hold the WhatsApp group administrators responsible if unlawful messages, videos or pictures are shared in a group.

The message will need to be approved by the administrator before going through to the rest of the group.

With the Restricted Groups feature, WhatsApp group admins can decide whether all the members in the group can send messages, or only the admin can.
