Atiku Abubakar urges defected PDP leaders to return

Atiku is said to have written to members of the PDP caretaker committee informing them of his desire to visit the members of the committee to further smoothen his return to the party he had abandoned a few times in the past.

He maintained that there was no other party that was truly settled outside APC, adding that even the Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) was not stable because it was still fighting to get a chairman.

Speaking at the meeting with party leaders, the former vice president urged defectors to return to rebuild the former ruling party.

He recalled that PDP was founded on the principles of democracy, good governance, unity of the country and the prosperity of its people but regretted that it has faced some challenges.

King said video from a security camera on the bus showed her struggling with the gear shift right before the crash. Georgia State Patrol stated that the school bus struck a tree then landed in a ditch.

He returned to the PDP only to lose the party's primary election for the 2011 presidential election to the eventual victor, Goodluck Jonathan.

"So, PDP must be prepared for this, and be ready to reconcile and reiterate in such a way and manner that everybody will be treated and given a level playing field to pursue his or her personal aspiration". It would be childish for anybody to think we would go against him.

"We thank you for coming before the convention so that you can contribute to what we have started going forward". What we want are people who can help us win elections and Atiku is one of them.

In a statement issued by Mr. Dayo Adeyeye, National Publicity Secretary of its National Caretaker Committee, the party described the return of Abubakar as "welcome development".
