Bryan Singer Fired From Queen Biopic Bohemian Rhapsody

The news comes after 20th Century Fox, New Regency and Graham King made the call earlier this week to remove Bryan Singer as the director of the film focused on Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.

Fox announced the news on Wednesday, two days after Singer's firing, and said production on the film will resume next week, reports Entertainment Weekly.

Fletcher, whose directorial work includes the musical Sunshine on Leith and last year's Eddie the Eagle, will direct the remaining two weeks of shooting and orchestrate the film's post-production work, which may involve further reshoots.

That string of bad luck now continues with the highly anticipated Queen biopic, Bohemian Rhapsody, which he has just been removed from by studio in charge of the project. Singer, who has several times been the defendant in sexual assault lawsuits, is said to have clashed with "Bohemian Rhapsody" star Rami Malek and another star, and being frequently absent from the set. Singer's company was given a stay of execution while he completed work on "Bohemian Rhapsody". "This was not my decision and it was beyond my control", he had said. Furthermore, the director was alleged to have gone missing during the production, leading to cinematographer Thomas Newton Sigel coming in to direct scenes.

There is no denying that the most critical centerpiece in any biopic related to Queen is the late Freddie Mercury.

Fox had given a similarly terse statement on December 1 when it announced, "Twentieth Century Fox Film has temporarily halted production on Bohemian Rhapsody due to the unexpected unavailability of Bryan Singer". Singer released a statement through his people that it was because of a health issue, though there was speculation that the studio was looking to replace Singer.

GVC in Talks to Buy Ladbrokes Coral for Up to $5.2 Billion
Houlihan Lokey and Investec are advising GVC on the deal, while Ladbrokes Coral is working with Greenhill and UBS. It would lead to Ladbrokes Coral shareholders owning about 46.5% of the combined group and GVC about 53.5%.

Singer has subsequently released a statement of his own, with his representatives saying that "this is a personal health matter concerning Bryan and his family".

"I wanted nothing more than to be able to finish the project and help honor the legacy of Freddie Mercury and Queen", Singer stated.

As was widely reported when this story initially broke, Singer has a long-standing habit of no-shows and conflicts with cast and crew. That remains unconfirmed for now, but it's clear that there's some trouble brewing behind the scenes and we can only hope that it all gets resolved sooner rather than later.

Light snow is on the way
As that front looks to be fairly far off the coast, most of the moisture should stay out over the ocean as well. As of this point, it looks like it gets here early on Saturday morning and continues through the day.

Throughout the film process, Malek became annoyed with Singer's constant absences and complained to 20th Century Fox. The director has had a history of disappearing from film sets, including X-Men: Apocalypse and Superman Returns, and was also rumoured to have fought with Halle Berry on X2.
