Kim Davis Turned Him Away, Now He's Running to Unseat Her

David Ermold (pictured above left), a gay man who was denied a same-sex marriage license by infamous Rowan County clerk Kim Davis, has officially announced that he will run against Davis in the next election. He said Davis does a good job as clerk, but said he was troubled by her decision not to issue the marriage licenses.

"As county clerk, I will make sure that all citizens seeking out services will be treated with dignity and respect, and I will make every effort to deliver an efficient, professional experience to everyone", he wrote.

Like many gay couples, after watching history take place in June 2015, when the Supreme Court handed down its landmark decision, Ermold and his partner David Moore headed to the local courthouse for a marriage license.

You may recall that on July 7, 2015, almost two weeks after the U.S. Supreme Court decision legalizing marriage equality nationwide, Ermold and his fiancé David Moore (a man he had been in a relationship with for around two decades) went to the county clerk's office in Rowan County, Kentucky to get a marriage license and - lo and behold - Davis, the thrice-divorced Christian clerk behind the counter refused to give them a license.

"The county clerk's office has been in the hands of the same family for nearly 35 years", Ermold said.

The story is said to focus on two agents who are trying to investigate a murder in Alaska with Logan being one of the prime suspects.

"She's not interested in any other office", Staver said. The issue was solved when one of her deputies, Brian Mason, agreed to issue licenses, and in 2016 the Kentucky General Assembly established an alternate license. "I don't think the other candidates are looking at a larger message".

Davis announced she was running for reelection last month. She has been County Clerk since 2014, although she worked for her mother, who was also clerk, before being elected to the position.

Three other people have also filed to run against her.

However, Ermold and Moore obtained a license on September 26, 2015, Reuters reported.

Davis, meanwhile, has become a hero for many on the religious right.

Hugh Jackman reveals why he rejected the role of James Bond
The ridiculousness of the Bond scripts isn't something Jackman voiced alone. 'The response was: "Oh, you don't get a say". As Pierce Brosnan was preparing to depart the role, executives approached Jackman as a potential replacement.

In the two years since then, things have quieted down in this Appalachian town. He said he's aware that Davis could get a lot of outside help in the campaign, but hopes Rowan voters will recognize the importance of restoring integrity to the office.

"You have to serve all the people, not just the ones you agree with", she said.

Davis' new political party could be a problem in Rowan County. He has earned two masters' degrees - one in communications and the other in English from the Morehead State University.

Ermold said Davis' position within the religious right is bringing more politics to the job.
