NY flight to Seattle forced to make emergency potty break

For fliers from NY to Seattle, the 6-hour flight was too long as pressure started mounting and a plane had to make an unscheduled potty break.

"All toilets were full and passengers needed to 'go really bad, '" Delta's report from the incident on flight 453 said, according to the Billings Gazette.

A direct Delta flight from NY to Seattle made an unplanned stop in Billings, Mont., because passengers needed to use the bathroom.

"I've heard of flights getting diverted, not here, because toilets overflowed and that blue water was rolling down the aisle", Ploehn told The Billings Gazette.

And so the plane took a left turn in the skies above Montana, flying hundreds of miles south before landing at Billings Logan International Airport around 6 p.m. Relief was not immediate, however.

Kevin Ploehn, the Billings director of aviation and transit, said passengers were escorted into the terminal where they could go to the bathroom and wait while the plane's toilets were serviced.

While passengers made their way to the restroom, the plane got refueled and prepared to make the final leg of the trip to Seattle in comfort. "That can't be very pleasant".

A Delta spokesman said in a statement that the flight landed "without incident" and that the issue was resolved before the plane took off for Seattle.

Passengers had such an "urgent need" to use the bathroom that the pilot requested the unscheduled landing.
