"For years, efforts were made to suppress the ideas of Baba Saheb (BR Ambedkar) and erase his contributions in nation-building". Mr Modi said Dr Ambedkar was always hopeful for India's socio and economic development.

Prime Minister said that the Congress has done great injustice to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar and Sardar Patel, even making it hard for Dr Ambedkar to join the Constituent Assembly. "Then nothing happened for 23 years... when our government came we not only laid its foundation in April 2015 but are also dedicating it to the nation today", he said.

The Prime Minister said Ambedkar Centre will function as a think-tank for inclusive growth and related socio-economic matters in line with Ambedkar's push for socio-economic equality.

Quoting from Dr. Ambedkar's address to the Constituent Assembly in December 1946, the Prime Minister said despite his struggles, Dr. Ambedkar had an inspirational vision for the nation to overcome its problems.
